Born in 1951, Cienfuegos, Cuba, and studied in the Fine Arts School of Las Villas, the National School of the Arts (Cubanacán), and the National School of Design in Havana. Since 1980, he has lived in New York, where he studied photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
His work is featured in Memoria: Cuban Art of the 20th Century, published by the California International Arts Foundation, Los Angeles, CA in 2002. He has a vast corpus of work in the visual arts discipline and for a little more than four decades has had a national and international presence in art galleries and museums, including the Newark Museum, Newark, NJ; the Paul and Lulu Hilliard Art Museum, Lafayette, LA; Lyman Allyn Art Museum, New London, CT; the Discovery Museum, Bridgeport, CT; Housatonic Museum of Art, Bridgeport, CT; MoCHA, NYC; the National Museum of Decorative Arts, Havana, Cuba; and Solo shows in Paris, France; Düsseldorf, Germany; Gent, Belgium and throughout the USA, as well as many group shows.
In 2012, he was nominated for a fellowship with the Painters and Sculptors Grant Program in the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
