JOSE SANTIAGO PEREZ OLIVARES
Born in Santiago de Cuba, 1949. A poet and a painter, currently living in Seville, Spain.Graduated from the National School of Art Cubanacan (1972) in the field of Fine Arts. Licensed by the Superior Institute of Art (1987) in Fine Arts, majoring in painting.
Since the age of 22 he has taught art at various schools in Cuba, and at the Cuban Institute of Fine Arts in Medellin, Colombia. His literary work has won the David Award, poetry (UNEAC, 1982), March 13th (University of Havana, 1985), Jaime Gil de Biedma (Segovia, 1991), Rafael Alberti (El Puerto de Santa Maria, 1993), Renaissance (Seville, 1998) and the Critics Award (Havana, 2000).
