Christiane Santiago Contreiras (Chris Contreiras) is a clinical psychologist born and raised in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.
Introduced to painting by her mother, also a painter, Chris is trained as a teacher, working with children in Art Education. Later she turned again to art when she discovered the projective tests of psychology, which deals with the expression of colors, lines and shapes that can portray secrets and truisms. She treats art and psychology as part of the same theme and a way to be in contact with her “self”.
In her first exhibition at the TRF, her paintings, which are all acrylic, had well-defined features. Today, her current work is totally different, but with a consistent theme, the feminine. And in her own words “Psychology allows me to see the path of my quest and art provides me a way to walk that path.”
